Wedding Music That Will Get Your Guests Dancing
There are many reasons why planning and celebrating a wedding is so fun. One of those reasons is being able to craft the exact experience you want for yourself, your spouse and all of your guests. As you’re putting together all the different elements of your big day, one of the elements you’ll want to give plenty of consideration is your wedding music. Since having tons of fun is the goal of most wedding receptions, you want to be sure that the music you choose reflects this goal. While you probably already have at least a few songs that you know are musts for your wedding, crafting the perfect mix for your entire event can be a bit more challenging. That’s why we want to share some very helpful tips for pulling together music that will keep your guests dancing and having a wonderful time:
1. Mix It Up
It’s usually easiest to pick songs that you know your friends will like. However, most wedding guest lists are quite diverse, which is why it’s important to go broad enough with the music selection that there will be tunes for everyone to enjoy throughout the event.
2. A Little Cheesiness is OK
Chances are you don’t want your evening of music to be full of wedding cliches. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with throwing in a few cheesy tracks. Wedding fun is all about cutting loose, so don’t be afraid to throw in a few fun tracks that you know everyone will enjoy dancing to.
3. Strategic Structure
We’ve already mentioned the importance of going wide enough with your music to account for all the different age groups at your wedding. An added tip for getting this right is to remember your older guests will likely be some of the first to leave. By placing their personalized tracks at the beginning of the night, you’ll be able to give them some fun and then shift towards the all-out party songs as the night progresses.
4. Prime the Dancing
While everyone is at a wedding to have fun, there may still be plenty of guests who have some hesitation about getting out on the dance floor. You can prevent an empty dance floor from stalling the night’s fun by selecting certain guests in advance and letting them know you’re counting on them to kick off all the dance floor fun.
5. Get Professional Help
For all the jokes that get made about wedding DJs, there are some really talented individuals in this field. By finding the right DJ for your wedding and getting their input during this process, you’ll be able to keep the music pumping and dance floor packed!
